Inaugural Generations Drive | Display of Performance

In beautiful Lake Louise, Alberta, Porsche Centre Calgary hosted the Inaugural Generations Drive to represent the best of the best when it comes to high-performance luxury sports cars. With an array of Porsche vehicles being presented, Porsche Centre Calgary invites their customers and staff up to drive each variation of a 911, dating back to the early 70’s and up to the current models. Participants were able to test drive the vehicle of their choice on the beautiful landscape and feel for themselves the specific power and exhilaration each model brings. The vehicles went from Post Hotel to the Takakkaw Falls and up to Emerald Lake on a sunny October day, one of the last sports car days of the year.

The Showcased Vehicles

The earliest model being showcased was a 1973 Metallic Green Porsche 911 S Targa. The 911 was first launched in 1964 in the same shape with the same body panel as the 1973, with the long hood chrome bumper. They made a major change in 1996 with the Porsche 911 993 Twin Turbo. This vehicle takes a lot of its technology from the 959 Supercar of the late eighties, as a four-wheel-drive, twin turbo car that redefined performance  standards of its era. It was the first 8-minute Nurburgring car, bringing an acceleration time of 0-60 in 4 seconds. It represents a very expensive, very collectable car. As most of the cars from this era; it has since doubled, or even tripled in price.

Moving forward with modern models, the 911 GT3, and the 911 Turbo represent some of the most advanced and invigorating power being produced today. The GT in the name of a Porsche car reveals that the car has close-knit racing traits built into a street production model.

The Porsche 911 GT3 offers a versatility that is appreciated everywhere.  This performance machine thrives from the racetrack to the street or up in the mountains, and it will constantly perform with dexterity and power. It offers massive carbon ceramic brakes, a lowered ride height and a normally aspirated 475 horsepower engine with a PDK gearbox that has been tuned to shift in milliseconds. These impressive features bring a lap time that has dropped from the 8 minutes at Nurburgring, down 30 seconds to 7 minutes and 30 seconds. The RS model of this vehicle is being released soon and holds the potential to drop to 7 minutes 15/20 seconds at the Nurburgring. It is a very collectable car and there are very limited numbers in availability.

Generation Drive

The C2S is another current generation model, which presents a narrower body and has been auctioned off with ceramic brakes. The model was presented at the Inaugural Generations Drive is a paint-to-sample colour in Voodoo Blue. The name of this paint colour comes from a superstition in the Southern U.S. that presented the idea that evil spirits were afraid to cross bodies of water. People believed that if they painted their window or door sills with a vibrant blue colour, the evil spirits would not enter their house, thinking they had to cross water to do so. With Porsche, you are offered the traditional group of colours, with the option to dip into a larger pool of colours with over 200 unique shades, to bring a look that is truly original

The new 911 Turbo is very refined and quick, able to go 0-60km/h in under 3 seconds with the 520 horsepower engine. Also available is the 911 Turbo S with 560 horsepower engine, bringing unbeatable records to the track. These sports cars are able to do everything you want them to do, bringing an impressive agility and power, while holding up to the comfort and luxury standards true of Porsche DNA.

Porsche Centre Calgary enjoys presenting events such as the Inaugural Generations Drive to its loyal customers as it is a great opportunity to get out into the beautiful outdoors and enjoy some of the immense power and beauty that has been signature to the Porsche brand for generations.
