Porsche owners and members of the Porsche Club Great Britain enjoyed the opportunity to see the winning Porsche 919 Hybrid at a recent event at Althorp House in Northamptonshire, UK. A day that is always special to Porsche owners was even more memorable as they saw up close the unparalleled 919 Hybrid, winner of the prestigious Le Mans.

Rewriting History

Porsche took home the winning trophy for the Le Mans exactly 45 years after the first overall win was achieved at La Sarthe. Not only did the Porsche 919 Hybrid take first place, but the sister car took second place with a third 919 Hybrid coming in fifth. Porsche also set a new qualifying record for the track and had only 90 pit stops throughout the race. The rookie drivers were the winners with only one of the three ever having competed in Le Mans previously. Driving the winning car were Earl Bamber, Nico Hukenberg, and Nick Tandy.

Porsche Club GB owners were privileged to an intimate look at this historic model. Many of them spoke of the sense of community you feel with Porsche and the beautiful cars that are available today. They said it is a great era for sports cars and the new models make you want to get out and drive one. Porsche has added a new dimension to the Le Mans and to the automotive industry in general. Fans everywhere agree that it is a historical accomplishment in the world of sports cars and a proud moment for those who own a Porsche.
