Forza 4 Unveils Porsche Expansion Pack

by Sales Team on June 5, 2012

Imagine taking a hot lap around Germany’s advanced and winding Nurburgring in a classic 1987 Porsche 959 — the most advanced car in the world of its time. Impossible? Unattainable? Not anymore. At least, not for those with a Microsoft X-Box 360 and Forza Motorsport 4.

Just recently, Porsche and developer Turn10 announced the return of Porsche’s beautiful vehicles to the Forza series with the Porsche Expansion Pack for Forza 4, available around the world as downloadable content via the X-Box Live Marketplace for 1600 Microsoft Points. With the expansion comes 30 new cars (listed below), 20 new events, 10 new achievements and a Porsche-only Rivals Mode. Developer Turn 10 says that seven of the cars are all-new to the Forza series, which brings the game’s fourth installment – including all of the vehicles released via downloadable content – to a grand total of 625 cars from both the past and present.

Springtime Repairs For Domino!

by Sales Team on April 23, 2012

April 21, 2012

Time to give Domino some much deserved attention this weekend.

The first item to be dealt with was to remove the door panels and secure the door speakers to remove the annoying rattles. After removing the upper door panel cover, lower door pockets, door handle, lock covers and door switches I was finally able to access the inside of the door. I installed Dynamat on both the speaker mounting panel and the inside of the door panel. After reinstalling the door panels and speakers I went for a quick drive – much better, no rattles and a more accurate and deep sounding bass! [click to continue…]

Porsche North America has plans to build a second new Porsche Experience Center in North America, with the lucky location being Carson, California. The expansive 53-acre facility and road handling course will join the original Porsche Experience Center at the legendary Silverstone Circuit in Great Britain along with facilities in Leipzig, Germany and Shanghai, China. In May 2011, Porsche announced North America’s first Porsche Experience Center, to be built as part of the company’s new U.S. headquarters complex in Atlanta, Georgia. Groundbreaking for the new project is expected to begin summer of this year.

The new West Coast location will be conveniently planted near the intersection of two major Los Angeles area traffic arteries, which are the 405 and 110 Freeways. The new facility will also be just minutes from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Southern California is also one of Porsche’s largest markets in the United States, and 15 million consumers reside within a 50-mile radius of the upcoming Experience Center. Another 59 million travelers pass through LAX annually, and there are even more consumers a few hours drive away residing in Orange and San Diego counties. Needless to say, the place will be in a prime location.

The mission of the Porsche Experience Centers is to provide Porsche enthusiasts, both young and old, with advanced driving skills, along with providing unforgettable moments. But it goes beyond the track, as there are special programs for children that are sure to spark the interest of the next generation enthusiast. There is even a Porsche Café and gift shop along with plenty of trackside viewing areas and even fine dining facilities will be available for business/group meetings and events, along with conference centers and track access.

What’s more, is the Porsche Human Performance Center. This unique fitness center facility will feature a sports science laboratory and training programs, incorporating the same techniques used in preparing Porsche race car drivers. This facility will offer customized experiences to guests, ranging from heat acclimation training and hydration strategies to individual wellness assessments. However, none of these features will take away from the centerpiece of it all: the track.

The Porsche Experience Center’s extensive lineup of facilities and programs are sure to impress. Porsche plans an upcoming world-class test track and handling course, including areas where surfaces will replicate rain, ice, and snow conditions. For these adverse road conditions, Porsche will offer special programs. These training sections include the Ice Hill, where a steep slope, computer-controlled water jets, and a low-friction surface are sure to challenge even the most experienced driver, all while sharpening practical real-world skills. Lastly, a special off-road area will combine 45-degree declines and ascents for Porsche Cayenne training.

Picture Day!

by Sales Team on October 17, 2011

Just like Elementary school, it was time for our Porsches to get their yearly pictures done. Gary Stewart was kind enough to offer up his boat landing at the Village of Ghost Lake over looking the Bow Valley. We all took turns getting the best shot then headed off to Kananaskis for shots in the mountains where the Ferrari Club met with the group. Danielle took some great photos of Domino and the group, see below…

Domino No Start

by Sales Team on September 26, 2011

Domino has had a nasty habit of not starting at the most inopportune times. The first time was the Porsche BBQ at Fritz’s, next in front of the gym, another time in front of Lick’s Ice Cream store. Every time it required an embarrassing push start from anyone who would help. I put my arms up in despair and left it up to Ron (our Shop Foreman) to track it down. For two days he had it on the hoist and of course started every single time! Finally she displayed her temperamental ways and refused to start. Ron tracked it down to a corroded battery cable inside the positive battery terminal (see pictures below). This repair is just in time for the Porsche club’s Oktoberfest car show this Saturday and Final Official Drive on Sunday. Hope to see you there.

1st Drive With The Refurbished Targa Top

by Sales Team on July 7, 2011

I will be attending the monthly Porsche Club meeting this evening so I was able to drive Domino this morning. New Targa roof refurbishing by Chinook Upholstery has cut the wind noise down by 80%. Looks great as we used the original German vinyl and replaced the headliner/underlying foam and new Porsche hardware. Now I just have to adjust the Targa seals to the windows and that should take care of the rest.

Garage Days Re-Revisited

by Sales Team on June 20, 2011

I attended Ken and Dina’s Garage Day on Saturday,a popular Wild Rose Porsche Club event. We were met with an immaculate garage full of Classic Porsches as well as a BBQ (thanks Dina!) fit for a king. The grey skies did not keep members away as the garage and back yard soon filled up. Jamie from Chinook Upholstery was on hand to demonstrate a dash repair, which he performed on my car.See pictures below for the miraculous transformation…highly recommended.

Wild Rose Porsche Club – BBQ

by Sales Team on May 31, 2011

Late May had Fritz hosting the annual Wild Rose Porsche Club BBQ. Approximately 20 cars attended the event and enjoyed some fantastic food and the company of fellow Porsche enthusiasts. An impending black cloud forced some members to quickly leave except for me. Domino was dead. After a quick replacement of the DME relay, I realized the starter had given up. This lead to a photo opportunity seeing the Porsche Parts Manager getting a push start! I am amazed at the helpfulness of the club as I was quickly offered a starter (which Fritz had in his garage) and a hoist to work on! As I had Mitchell with me I chose to drive home and replace the failed starter on my own. See the “embarrassing moment” in the pictures below…

Wild Rose Porsche Club Season Opener

by Sales Team on May 16, 2011

Sunday morning we were greeted with a brisk wind but that did not deter the Wild Rose Porsche Club from getting a great turnout. The club met at the Starbucks in the Crowfoot area at 9:00 am to head out on a 200+ km trip through the Alberta country side. My son Mitchell was animate about having the Targa roof off, so we headed out towards Sundre with the “cold” wind blowing in our hair. We followed the bright red 1986 928S4 of Chris and his son Sean, which made wonderful sounds, more like a LT1 than a Porsche. We arrived in the little town of Bremen to take over the General store and of course, put the top back on. We then proceeded to an open field to take pictures of the good turnout and spectacular machinery. On the way home Mitchell fell asleep so we skipped the dinner at Symons Valley, but it looks like a good time was had by all.

Here is the link to the Wild Rose Porsche site for more pictures.

Here We Go!!

by Sales Team on January 27, 2011

After working here at South Centre Porsche for two years, finally took the plunge and purchased a 911. The Black Targa was so nice it went into the showroom with all the new cars. After a surprisingly little amount of sweet talk to the wife the deal was made (I suspect she actually wants the car for her fortieth…err I mean 29th birthday!), into the back shop it went. 1st order of business, Targa roof seals. Parts are still available from Porsche and arrive 5 days later.
